The Challenge: Life with Probes

When the time comes to upgrade or replace, probes are difficult to justify. They just can't keep up with today's more complex application mix and network changes. Probes offer a view into IP and port traffic data as well as Permanent Virtual Circuits (PVC) and other circuit availability. But they can't deliver the visibility needed to effectively troubleshoot and manage WAN application performance.

Lack of Intelligence

Network environments are increasingly complex. Probes can't intelligently separate all of that traffic into useful classifications. Only a few applications that use Port 80 are really Web applications, for example. And business Web applications—like SAP® and Oracle®—are lumped together with recreational Web.
