Hardware Extensions

With Packeteer hardware extensions, you can deploy PacketShaper into a wider variety of topologies, extend bypass to optical interfaces and use a single PacketShaper for multiple LANs.

LAN Expansion Modules (LEM)

Create flexible deployment options for complex topologies with additional PacketShaper network interfaces.

• Up to two LEM slots—each with a pair of interfaces—available for PacketShaper models 2500, 4500, 6500, 8500, 9500 and 10000.
• Gigabit and fiber-optic LEMs available for PacketShaper models 6500, 8500, 9500 and 10000.

Memory Upgrade Kit

Packeteer offers two Memory Upgrade Kits for running the most recent PacketWise software on an older PacketShaper.

• The MUK-1G kit for the PacketShaper 8500 includes two 512MB memory modules.
• The MUK-512M memory kit for the PacketShaper 2500 and PacketShaper 4500 includes two 256MB memory modules.

Additional Memory Upgrade Kits are designed to extend the hardware configuration of new PacketShapers for future use.

• The MUK-PS1400 kit for the PacketShaper 1400 includes one 1GB memory module
• The MUK-PS1700-3500 kit for the PacketShaper 1700 and 3500 includes one 1GB memory module

Fiber Bypass Switches (FBS)

Designed for fiber-optic network interfaces, the FBS is an external bypass that ensures uninterrupted network access even if a PacketShaper:

• Is powered down.
• Is in bypass mode.
• Encounters an unlikely failure.

IP KVM Switch

The Packeteer IP KVM is a powerful device that can make remote management of your iShaper, iShared or PacketShaper easier. For Packeteer devices that run the Windows operating system, IP KVM can offer full remote management of the BIOS and Operating System by one or more concurrent users. For PacketShaper it provides a way to provide remote access to the unit's console port via telnet or a web browser. With the IP KVM Switch offers:

• Full control of you iShaper™, iShared® or PacketShaper® appliance with remote access
• Gigabit and fiber-optic LEMs available for PacketShaper models 6500, 8500, 9500 and 10000.
